Principal
Mrs. Kathy Sleva has been the principal at St. Vincent School since 1987. She joined St. Vincent de Paul Parish in 1983 when she and her husband, Bill, and daughters moved to Bedford from Bloomington, IN. Mrs. Sleva received her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary and special education from Western Illinois University in 1974. She taught four years in Peoria Public Schools, and two years in North Lawrence Schools. She also spent seven years in insurance, which gave her business and marketing experience. She received her Masters in School Administration from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1992. Mrs. Sleva is pleased to have been able to watch her two daughters spend their elementary and middle school years at St. Vincent's, and then go on to success in high school, college and their chosen careers. She knows that the foundation in faith, academics and values received at St. Vincent has served the hundreds of students who have attended St. Vincent's during her tenure, by giving them strength of knowledge, spirit and character for their future.
Preschool
Mrs. Castagnier has taught at St. Vincent School for 21 years and has a degree in Early Childhood. She feels that teaching at SVS is a dream come true. Moving here from New York with her husband and 2 children and leaving a large family behind left her a little apprehensive about working in a new school and developing new relationships. The staff of St. Vincent has always been so welcoming and supportive it is like a family away from home. She really loves the fact that she is allowed to teach and model her faith. Working with the preschoolers keeps her young. Everyday is a new experience!
Kindergarten
Mrs. Jessica Guetig is in her first year of teaching and is a graduate of Indiana University Southeast with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with an endorsement for teaching Kindergarten. She is thrilled to be teaching at St. Vincent de Paul in Bedford because it allows her to be a part of a small loving family of educators that strive to provide an excellent academic environment for the students. St. Vincent also allows her to share in the fullness of the Catholic Faith. For Mrs. Guetig teaching at St. Vincent de Paul is not just a career but rather a calling.
Grade 1
Ms. Jennifer Solari has taught first grade at St. Vincent de Paul School since 2007. Ms. Solari began her career in education teaching first grade in the San Francisco Bay Area. She taught there for 10 years before moving to Bedford three years ago. She received her B.A. in Liberal Studies and a Teaching Credential from the College of Notre Dame in Belmont, California. Ms. Solari is the proud mother of three children, two of whom attend St. Vincent School. She has always loved teaching beginning readers and is still fascinated by the process and work of first graders mastering the skill of reading. From her first day at St. Vincent, Ms. Solari has been most impressed by the value placed on reading and language arts as well as the high academic standards set by the staff here at St. Vincent. For her St. Vincent’s is not only a place of employment, but her family’s place of worship and their community.
Grade 2
Mrs. McFarland has taught at St. Vincent School for 4 years. She attended Ball State University and Indiana Wesleyan University obtaining her degree in Masters of Education while receiving her Master's level classes in Reading Specialist and Strategies for Teaching Reading. She has attended numerous workshops specializing in Autism, Six-Traits of Writing and Response to Intervention. Bonnie enjoys teaching at St. Vincent because she can nourish her students' faith and individualize instruction for her students.
Grade 3
Mrs. Quaas began her teaching career in 1989 when she graduated from a small Catholic college in Iowa - Mount Mercy College-ran by the Sisters of Mercy. The Sisters of Mercy are serious about training teachers, and from them she received a very good foundation for teaching. Before moving to Indiana with her husband and two boys, she taught in Iowa, Florida, and Vermont. She feels fortunate to bring varied classroom experiences from both the public and private sectors. Mrs. Quaas has a professional and enthusiastic attitude towards teaching children. She is very excited for the opportunity to work at St. Vincent de Paul School with your children and to help develop their unique talents to their fullest potential
Grade 4
Mrs. Jan Corbin is currently in her 28th year as the fourth grade teacher at SVS. Previously she had taught second grade for one year in Kokomo, IN, and then was a stay-at-home mom for fifteen years. She received her Bachelors and Masters of Education degrees from Indiana University. While at home she substitute taught at her sons' school and learned she loved fourth graders. The parental support, wonderful staff, and especially the fourth graders are the things she loves about St. Vincent School.
Grade 5
Mrs. Underwood is currently in her 2nd year teaching fifth grade at St. Vincent. She moved to Bedford in 1991 from Indianapolis after receiving her BS in Education from Butler University. She taught third grade at St. Vincent until 1997, when she temporarily retired to raise her four children. Mrs. Underwood is proud to be part of the St. Vincent school family. She is committed to the faith-based education provided by St. Vincent and she promotes high academic achievement and personal success in her students.

Grade 7 and 8
Mr. Bair began teaching at St. Vincent at the start of the 2008-2009 school year. He has a Master's degree in elementary education and a secondary social studies teaching license. He was an archaeologist for over ten years. He has also been a primitive skills instructor and living history demonstrator. He was an after school program coordinator, a middle school teacher, and a social studies assessment specialist before coming to St. Vincent. Mr. Bair teaches middle school social studies and language arts, is the Junior Beta Club sponsor, and coaches Junior Spellbowl and boys' and girls' tennis. He enjoys teaching at St. Vincent because he is able to teach good values to the students and help them grow morally as well as academically.
